Make A Battery Cleaning Solution

Keeping your battery and the terminals clean is a key maintenance procedure to getting the most performance from your deep cycle batteries. Corrosion occurs when acid from inside of the battery makes its way to the terminals and connectors on top of the battery. The acid attacks the battery terminals and connectors, which if left untreated can reduce or disconnect power to the vehicle. In addition, untreated corrosion can lead to arcing, where the electrical current jumps an air gap resulting in a spark. This arcing can melt terminals, damage connectors, or cause ignition of hydrogen gas emitted during charging.

Fortunately, battery terminal corrosion can be easily cleaned with a special solution that neutralizes battery acid. The solution can be made by mixing one tablespoon (15ml) of baking soda to every 1-cup (250ml) of hot water. Apply the solution to the corroded areas of the battery terminals and use a wire brush or toothbrush to gently clean off any additional residue on the terminals. Once the terminals and wiring are clean, rinse the area with water to rinse any remaining solution off the batteries. Use some paper towels to dry the area.

To slow down the corrosion process apply some corrosion prevention spray to the terminals to coat them. Make sure to check the terminals approximately every six months and clean as necessary. Be sure to use protective gloves and safety glasses to prevent injury and ensure all connections are safely removed from the batteries prior to cleaning. US 100 DIN 6-Volt Battery Offers Greater Performance And Longer Operating Time

U.S. Battery Manufacturing continues to optimize its product line with the introduction of its new US 100DIN XC2, six-volt battery. This DIN GC2 group size battery measures 9-5/8” (244mm)L x 7-1/2” (191mm)W x 10-7/8” (276mm)H and has been designed to fit a wide range of equipment applications specifically found within the European market. With a 247 amp-hour rating at a 20-hour rate and a run-time of 204 minutes at a 56-amp draw, the US 100DIN XC2 is designed to keep vehicles running longer. With proper maintenance, this battery can also provide longer service life, and lower annual operating costs.

The US 100DIN XC2 comes in a heat-sealed, heavy-duty, blue polypropylene case and weighs 61 lbs. (28kG). It comes with standard bayonet vent caps and is also available with the company’s SpeedCap® as an added option. Both vent cap options are flame retardant, creating a safeguard not found in most competitive batteries. The new and unique design also allows for the use of single point watering, a feature not available on any other battery in this size range. Additionally, lifting brackets have been added for ease of installation and removal. The standard terminal configuration features a robust SAE post. Built with U.S. Battery’s exclusive XC2™ Formula and Diamond Plate Technology®, the US 100DIN XC2 can reach higher initial rated capacity and faster cycle up time to full-rated capacity than any other battery in its price range.

U.S. Battery Manufacturing Launches New Endurance Plus™ Line Of Deep-Cycle Batteries

U.S. Battery Manufacturing has launched a new line of deep-cycle batteries called Endurance Plus™. The Endurance Plus™ line is made up of 6-volt, 8-volt and 12-volt batteries that feature improved overall performance and higher ratings in an all-new bright red color case and top. “Our engineers were able to improve the performance on some of our most popular batteries that include the US 2000XC2, US 8VGCXC2, and US 12VRXXC2, to create a new category for the U.S. Battery brand we are calling Endurance Plus™,” said Don Wallace, U.S. Battery CMO/Executive VP Sales and Marketing.  “The Endurance Plus™ line provides our distributors with the opportunity to offer customers the industry’s most efficient batteries with higher performance ratings, ultimately giving customers a better battery and greater overall value.”

Endurance Plus™ batteries are manufactured in the U.S.A. and feature molded-in UTL terminals that have torque values that are consistent with current burned-on UTL versions. Dual molded terminals will be available soon as an option. The batteries also feature U.S. Battery’s exclusive XC2 formulation that give them the highest initial capacity, fastest cycle-up time to full-rated capacity, improved recharge-ability, and the highest total energy delivered than any battery in their class.

The full line-up of Endurance Plus™ batteries, ratings and sizes are available on the company’s website, at www.usbattery.com.
