The 17th Annual Bulls Only Dorado Fishing Tournament, sponsored in part by U.S. Battery, announced the winners of this year’s event. John Wood caught a 12.14 pound Dorado to take home the first place prize of $1,000.  Nathan Burbey caught an 11.26 pound Dorado and won the $500 prize, while Eduardo Santillon caught a 10.84 pound Dorado to take home the third place win.  All three winners were also given a hand-painted Ibarra plate from Ibarra Plate in La Paz.

The Bulls Only Dorado Fishing Tournament is a popular tournament held in Punta Chivato, Baja California Sur, Mexico. U.S. Battery Manufacturing has been a sponsor of this event, because the town of Punta Chivato runs entirely on solar power and most all of the residents rely on U.S. Battery RE-Solar batteries. “Many of us have been customers of U.S. Battery for more than 20-years, and the company has also been one of our tournament’s most valued sponsors.” says Pamela Oxley, representative for the Bulls Only Dorado Fishing Tournament.

“We’re happy to be one of the event’s major sponsors, and congratulate the winners on a great weekend of fishing,” said Don Wallace, U.S. Battery CMO/Executive Vice President. U.S. Battery RE Series deep-cycle batteries include features that give them the highest peak capacity, cycle life, and reliability that provide better performance for solar powered homes and businesses. U.S. Battery’s exclusive Diamond Plate technology utilizes synthetic tetrabasic lead sulfate (TTBLS), crystal structures. The TTBLS, result in enhanced performance, ease of charging, and greater life span over any other battery on the market. U.S. Battery’s RE Series batteries also include Defender™ moss shields, to prevent “mossing shorts” that further reduce battery life. These features, combined with an Outside Positive (OSP™) battery design, overall battery life, capacity and performance are dramatically increased.  Available in 6 and 2-volt configurations, RE Series batteries include extra heavy-duty connector lugs, a tough polypropylene exterior case, heavy-duty lifting handles, and the company’s SpeedCap®,  a positive locking vent system designed for safe and easy maintenance. U.S. Battery Manufacturing Sponsors The 17th Annual Bulls Only Dorado Fishing Tournament

U.S. Battery is sponsoring the Bulls Only Dorado Fishing Tournament, held in Punta Chivato, Baja California Sur, Mexico, June 21st through the 23rd. Now in its 17th year, the tournament has become extremely popular and brings in contestants from around the world to fish for the biggest Dorado (aka Mahi-Mahi) that is found in the ocean near this scenic town. “One of the reasons we enjoy sponsoring this event, is because most of the residents of Punta Chivato run on solar power and use U.S. Battery products,” says Don Wallace, VP U.S. Battery CMO/ Executive VP, Sales and Marketing. Aside from being one of the most popular areas for Dorado fishing, and host of this popular tournament, Punta Chivato is a small community off the Sea of Cortez that has approximately 125 homes that are all on solar power. “Most all of the homes in this town use U.S. Battery deep-cycle batteries,” says Pamela Oxley, representative for the Bulls Only Dorado Fishing Tournament. “Many of us have been customers of U.S. Battery for more than 20-years, and the company has also been one of our tournament’s most valued sponsors.”

Communities like Punta Chivato utilize U.S. Battery RE Series deep-cycle batteries, because they are designed to take the abuse of grueling deep discharge-recharge cycles every day for long periods of time. U.S. Battery RE-Series batteries feature the company’s exclusive Diamond Plate technology that allows the use of highly efficient, synthetic tetrabasic lead sulfate (TTBLS), crystal structures. U.S. Battery’s improvement in plate structure with synthetic TTBLS results in enhanced performance, charging, and life of the battery over any other on the market. “Our Diamond Plate Xtreme Capacity technology provides higher peak capacity, improved watt-hours per liter and watt-hours per kilogram,” says Wallace. “The features we put into our RE series batteries enhance recharge-ability with improved cycle life that solar powered homes like those in Punta Chivato depend on every day.”

In addition to Diamond Plate technology, U.S. Battery’s RE-Series deep-cycle batteries include Defender™ moss shields. These shields effectively prevent the formation of “mossing shorts” caused when positive active material particles dislodge from the plates, collect at the top of the cell elements, and cause a short circuit. In addition, U.S. Battery RE-Series products utilize an Outside Positive (OSP™) battery design, which mitigates the effects of positive plate deterioration and further increases battery life, capacity and stable performance over the life of the battery. With reliable, long-lasting power from U.S. Battery, the town of Punta Chivato is looking forward to another successful fishing tournament. According to Oxley, the tournament raises money to support many charities. Some of these include local boarding schools, a veterinary clinic, a home for the elderly, and a scholarship program for local students.
